I predominantly work with autistic and/or ADHD adults (18+) of any identity, and what being neurodivergent throws at you, these could include but aren’t limited to: anxiety, masking, depression, sensory sensitivities, reasonable adjustments and accommodations, experiencing loss and change, regulation techniques, relationship struggles, self esteem, trauma and communication differences. If you don’t see what you’re looking for feel free to send me an email / text message and we can have a chat!
Our first session together is an assessment of needs, and where you are currently. This may take the whole session. This conversation is me building a scaffolding of who and what is around you and may include: your hobbies and what your down time looks like, if you are working, studying, who’s in your support system, what’s your sleep like, do you practice and self care.
Initially, I offer a free 20 minute telephone or video call. This is a chance to find out a little bit more about what’s bringing you to counselling right now. It gives us an opportunity to see if we get along with one another, and if we think we could work together. Then, we would discuss times and dates for a session and we go from there! I send over my counselling agreement via email, and provide pictures and directions of the counselling room, including where to wait ahead of our first session.
It is £60 for a 50 minute session.
Each session is 50 minutes long.
To begin, sessions would be weekly for 4-6 weeks, this is to build the therapeutic relationship and getting to know one another. After this, I find it helpful to have a review and reflect on where we feel our sessions are. This is a great opportunity to discuss if you’d like to bring in different techniques or styles of counselling.
We may feel comfortable to continue having weekly sessions, and I am open to discussing moving to fortnightly sessions if we feel this would be of benefit for you.
It is important that you feel comfortable in having a discussion about your sessions and I welcome this conversation at any point throughout our work together.
